MEP Krystyna Pawłowicz announced a contest for Polish name for gender. What is your proposition?
PR Magdalena Środa: 'Gender' may be a foreign term, but it is simultaneously professional and very brief. It refers to what it should refer, it is to a culture gender and studies of the gender are interdisciplinary. They include anthropological researches, sociological, literary, etc. Word 'gender' is not a problem, but the ideology which was added to it. It is really a dextrous move of Church.
What do you think what purposes the 'competition' of Krystyna Pawłowicz had?
As for me, it is a person who needs care and protection. These are not fully conscious expressions. I think that Jarosław Kaczyński's party needs to have this kind of people who do lot of confusion, but they do not do it fully consciously.

It is heated by Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (eng. Law and Justice - political party), but the tool is Mrs. Pawłowicz. It is a person who is used to this kind of tasks and donkey work, but she does not seem to be aware of it. She is not sent on serious debates, she does not speak about politics, does not have a meritorical contribution to the party. She is a person about whom they talk: 'Let's prompt Mrs. Pawłowicz, she'll take it'.
But Mrs Pawłowicz is a professor. It is hard for me to believe she does not know what she talks and she does things unconsiously.
But you know, it should be checked. She has a habilitation, she was an university professor, but she does not work at any university right now. So I think this title does not vest her, because she is not a 'presidential professor'. Whereas everyone can have a various mental problems at the old age and the fact that someone had a habilitation and was an efficient scientist does not mean he will be like this till death. It is probably this case.
MEP Pawłowicz says that 'gender' is a 'fight with a faith of God'. Does gender also deal with issues of faith?
If Mrs. Pawłowicz has the habilitation and she is a scientist, she is well aware that this has nothing to do with fighting a faith of God. If we have to deal with the case I talk about, or simply a political chutzpah or a mental defect, so PR Pawłowicz says what she says. Or what she is instructed to say, or she is just such a political brawler.
At first the academic enviroment was talking about 'gender'. Then left-winged. Now right-winged. Did its role change?
We have to take a look when this topic appears. It appears along the case of pedophilia in Church. Gender Ideology became something famous when cases of pedophilia had begun to be revealed. And now, when it appears that on bishop Wesołowski's laptop is almost 100,000 child porn videos, this topic returned. It is clearly visible that it is a tool that have to make Polish Catholics to forget about destructive, in a moral sense, things that happens in Church. I think it is an agony of this institution. If it will not transform internally and it will only count on such issues like frightening with 'gender', then the secularisation will be a very fast process.

These are not shocking words. These are stupid words. The main problem of Church nowadays is a lack of education, ignorance and chutzpah. Gądecki knows or does not know that he have such a power that he can say anything and takes the attention. We have a multitude of Cathocelebrities who do not talk to believers, they do not put themselves in an eschatological order, they just want to be in media, they want to be commented, because they think they strenghtens authority of Church this way. They copy politicians who thinks if they are not in media they do not exist. And Church becomes horribly tabloidal which is a sad sign of the time. I would not look for any sense in the expression of bishop Grądecki, same as in expressions of Mrs. Pawłowicz. It is just a political-media game.
What Mr. Grądecki thinks? I do not know. It is a man who wears dress and all work around him is made by nuns. I think it is a nice perspective for bishop Grądecki. He had never soiled his hands with cleaning or cooking and the world in which one sex has authority and performs some models of life while the other one comes around and cleaning is desired by many men. But it has nothing to do with Christianity, because Christianity introduced the principle of equality."

In the end, the spokesman of Archbishop Grądecki was trying to emend the words about cleaning (bishop himself could not do it personally, because he was in Vatican on Synod). Along his words, Grądecki did not mean anything he said, boys should clean, same as girls.
